This book deals with the art and science of protecting and promoting your own interests. It is about reaching that pentacle of accomplishment where you have groups of people devoted to you, your goals and your ambitions. In other words, it is about the politics of life. It is about making your own cult. No one has to build a cult from this book. That's a personal decision and you'll get some very useful tools to do that... if you decide. What this book should do is help you to create a personal sense of purpose. More often when someone talks about a sense of purpose or a feeling of destiny they are met with cynicism. People generally don't even have a language to understand the concept of purpose and destiny. Yes, we have plans and goals and problems to solve and we work to solve those problems but there are few who can say they are driven by a sense of purpose. Those who are are usually are live like unstoppable forces of nature. If you have to wait to find your sense of purpose then it will likely never happen. Right NOW you are in the perfect place to choose your purpose. When you do, life gains a clearer perspective and you can do the ordinary and mundane acts of daily life with more vigor and joy because everything is connected by your sense of purpose.

Judging from the reviews, different people get different things from this book. I can see that. The title is "Building Your Cult. Power, Politics, and People." The book starts off with the focus on how to successfully build your cult and avoid pitfalls. This could just as easily be about building your business brand or the art of persuasion.I bought this book because of the reviews that talked about how it can change your life. I am always interested in self growth. I also was interested in how the author presented NLP. I found this part of the book the most interesting and the least covered. I am a certified NLP practitioner, so the very quick overview of that was enough for me. There are one line to one paragraph flashes of brilliance scattered throughout the book that I wish were expanded upon, but perhaps the fact that the author doesn't give it all to you makes it better. Maybe it's the kind of thing that is more meaningful when you have to do the work.
The book is easy to understand, but I read it slowly to absorb the finer points. The information is good, but the editing isn't the greatest (as others have pointed out) and the way that ideas are presented is jarring at times. It gives enough at a fair enough price that I want to see what else the author has to say. On his website, he says if you send him your Amazon receipt, he will send you something free (or if you buy the book on his site, he will send the free thing too). I did that, but didn't get a response.
Anyway, if the review seems disjointed, it's because the book is too. I do recommend it- especially if you actually do want to start a cult- but there is a lot more to it than that.

Interesting book
What can I say. It's Dantalion Jones, the best writer on hypnosis and mind control in the business. Get this book; get all of his books. He is that good and many of us think so.
While I don't plan to start a cult, I do plan on starting my own business someday. I had heard of Dantalion Jones before somewhere, so the name looked familiar to me. When I began reading this book I was actually excited, surprised, and impressed! This is not your typical self help book. Dantalion says things in this book that I have never seen before in any other self help books or books on persuasion. I read quite a lot of stuff on the mind and persuasion. It's a fascination with me. Jones makes some key points in this book that are unique, and communicates the ideas in such a way that the concepts are immediately relatable and usable in our lives.
This book is special and phenomenal for many reasons in my honest opinion, which is why the reference in the book to one of his web sites caught my interest. I found audio products at [...] that utilize hypnosis and his knowledge of human behavior and motivation to help people- those who would like to learn how to improve their understanding of themselves and the people in the world around them. I decided to order based on the very tangible feeling of connection I got from reading this book. This author has his finger on the important elements which go to the core of human motivation and what keeps us from being more than we can be. That's critical for this kind of training and learning.
I wanted to mention something about the title and nature of the content for those who may feel uncomfortable with it. Yes, the author does actually speak about creating cults, but it's not exactly what you may expect. It's true that some may take this information and begin unethical practices. That can happen with any tool, especially if said tool is powerful. Jones makes it very clear that the one should use the advice within this book to do good. The reasoning for this is not only a moral or ethical position- it's also a very practical one. The author explains that when persuasion and the key elements outlined in this text are used to oppress, throw guilt, create fear, etc, it may work in the beginning, but in the long term those same tactics will create the very seeds of anger, resentment, and ego-driven behavior which cause the spectacular crash and burns we see all over the TV today. Of much more lasting impact is the use of these tools to make people happy and content- and burning with passion to do and be better. THAT is why I love this book. Any tool of great power can be used for evil. Of course. This book IS a tool of great power, without a doubt. YOU must choose HOW to use it yourself.
If you ever felt powerless,like others could chew you up and spit you out then you need this book because if You don't do the controlling you will become some ones slave.the technique he teaches will give you the kind of power to make your life comfortable without hurting others
Dantalion Jones has a few products out. Most are higher caliber than this book. However it does deliver...depending upon your knowledge level of the field. I can say it was a good buy. and it is a great buy if you are around High School and College age and want to start a group or if you prefer Cult. I probably can't give a completely fair assessment since I learned most of what is talked about in the book whilst growing up and being interested in the subject. But for those just getting started, or needing a few extra tips tricks and ideas for that final push... It is definitely worth it.
I read the book and I am rereading now. This book is really about building YOUR CONFIDENCE and then going out and building a team, or creating fan loyalty to yourself or a brand.
Dantalion does refer to crash and burn cults as examples of what you DON'T want to do! He has a self-hypnotic script that he wants you to read many times to help you avoid become a megalomaniac, which seems to be the downfall of most cults.
He talks about helping people get what they want and this will instill loyalty to you so you get what you want. I know several self-help books that say the exact same thing. Dantalion just puts in a hypnotic twist.
The warnings alone in this book make it worth the price. I recommend you buy this book if you want to run something (a club, business, political campaign). It will help you avoid the pitfalls while building a loyal team to achieve the main goal.
